Changes at Nationwide Insurance, discounts for you!

Earlier this year, Nationwide Insurance announced that they were going from many brands (Nationwide, Allied, Harleysville, etc.) to just one Nationwide Insurance brand. Additionally, they announced that Nationwide products will now be sold through independent insurance agents (like yours truly!), and that they would no longer have exclusive Nationwide Insurance agents.

With this change in distribution, Nationwide has also made some changes in their discounts. In the past, I’ve recommended to you join the Ohio Farm Bureau, because it provided a discount on your insurance. Nationwide is no longer offering that discount. To make up for this change, Nationwide has a list of corporate affinity partners, like professional, sports, cause-related and alumni groups, and if you are a member of any of these groups, you can earn up to a seven percent discount!

As of August 1, Nationwide will also be introducing more discounts for current and new customers:

• SmartRide app: This app collects data over a six-month period, including miles driven, hard brakes/accelerations, night time driving and idle time. You can receive an initial 10 percent discount upon enrollment and earn up to a 40 percent reward based off your driving habits.
• Paperless policy discount: Who actually likes the giant stacks of paper you get in the mail from your insurance company? Now you can keep it all paperless and earn a five percent discount! Nationwide will simply email you your policy documents, including your auto insurance ID cards.

For all my current Allied Insurance customers, this change in brand will be seamless for you. We wanted to share this information with all our clients, because even if you’re not currently insured by Nationwide, you may be in the future, so we want to make sure you know about these great discounts!
